Scientia Plus Conscientia

Thoughts on Science and Nature

Glaciar Narváez, Sierra de Sangra Icefield, Argentina.

Welcome to my outlet for sharing thoughts and reflections on Science and Nature.

I am a geoscientist and data analyst with a background in glaciology, glacial geomorphology, remote sensing, and geographical information systems (GIS). I began my career in academia, where I spent several years doing research and teaching in the above fields. I then moved on and worked for a few years in the public sector managing environmental information. I now work as a data analyst and information management consultant. Apart from the above mentioned fields, I am also interested in natural science in general, and matters related to open science, open data, and open source software. Posts on this site will often contain notes and reflections on these and related fields.

On a deeper level, I hope that my work will contribute to a better understanding and appreciation of the natural world. I am concerned with our unsustainable use of Nature and the prospect that future generations may not enjoy as good environmental conditions as we had until now. I believe that science and knowledge are inseparable from the ethics of their application and that we have the responsibility to find a more harmonious relationship with Nature. Posts in this blog will often revolve around this theme.

Unless otherwise stated, views and opinions expressed here are my own and do not represent those of an eventual client, employer, or any other.
